This past weekend Covalence sponsored the inaugural High School Code It! Competition held at Homewood High School. Fifty schools from around the state of Alabama were invited to participate. Students could enter the competition individually or as a collaborative pair. The student/pair had to develop an original program fitting into one of the following categories: Gaming, Philanthropic, Artistic, Utility/Productivity, Educational, or Other. The program could be developed using any programming language, but the code had to be displayed for the judges to review. There were four judges from around the state, one being our CEO, Matt Landers. The judging criteria was based on the program itself and the student’s presentation. The students worked on their projects for months, and had the opportunity to submit the program they had created for a chance to be awarded a scholarship to Covalence’s High School Coding Bootcamp. We were so impressed with the talent and creativity of all of the students, and we look forward to sponsoring next years event.
The class will kick off June 13th, and to celebrate the inaugural High School Class, Covalence is offering $1,000 off tuition if you apply before April 15. To learn more about our High School Course visit our courses page.
