Our Makeover

Our Makeover

We debuted a new site recently: A speedy and, at times, frustrating labor of love that we are super excited to show off.

In the rapid process of passionately trying to bring better tech talent to Birmingham, it was easy the first go around to throw together some mockups, pick a few fonts, and bang out a mission statement for the newly devised coding bootcamp that was Covalence. After all, it was the expertise that we were going to provide that mattered. Not so much our website. Right?

Your website is your organization’s number one spokesman, shiny shoes and all. And you know what happens to shiny shoes?

They get scuffed up. You grow out of them. You realize the wheels that pop out of the bottom are annoying as hell, and also a safety hazard. Before you know it, it’s time to get a new pair. And just like slipping into a new pair of shoes, it’s time for us to move on to a new website. Heely’s couldn’t be cool forever.

We had shoes, but we grew so fast after putting them on that they made us look a little clumsy. I’ll shut up about shoes now. Our site focused on us rather than our users – potential students, current students and the companies that hire those students. We were growing, too, adding talent, courses, and locations to our repertoire. The old site simply didn’t represent the Covalence of today.

The problem was, we were so busy taking our first steps that we couldn’t find the time to make bigger, better shoes for ourselves. But we knew it had to happen, no matter what, so we gave ourselves a short 4 weeks to design, build, and deploy it. We wanted the quality to be great, but we also wanted to hit the ground running.

We worked hard to make that deadline, but are still working to present our users with exciting new features in the upcoming months. We are going to make it easier for employers to view profiles and the impressive work of our students. People interested in the program are going to have the ability to read how Covalence has changed the lives of many of its students, from all different backgrounds. It is going to be easier than ever for people in the program to view open positions and find a job they will love. Most importantly, you can see all of our new locations! Covalence will be expanding to include classrooms in Mobile, AL and Chattanooga, TN.

So without further ado, I present to you our new website. This is a site for our users rather than ourselves or our peers. A site that shows who Covalence is and the results we bring. Take a look and let us know what you think, and ways we can make it even better. Also, check back often to view new features!
