If you are looking for a change of pace in your career, or you are just starting out it can be difficult to know what to do. Our courses are designed to help guide you through the process.
Interested in learning to code? Take our...
Our full stack development course will help you achieve your career goals in just 10 short weeks. The course focuses on creating end-to-end web applications. You'll learn the basics of front end development, create your own custom application programing interfaces (APIs), and connect to backend SQL and NoSQL databases.
First you will learn the building blocks of the web, HTML and CSS. By the end of this course, you will be comfortable with these markup languages, and be able to structure and style websites for end users. Next you will learn JavaScript. JavaScript is only gaining momentum in the development world. We will focus on the fundamental concepts in JavaScript (variables, conditional statements, syntax), and then move on to more advance topics (OOP, JavaScript libraries, TypeScript). Every Full Stack developer needs to be proficient in the programming language of the web.
You will learn the basics of server-side scripting. When you log into Facebook, what you see is different than what your grandma sees when she logs into Facebook. This is possible through the use of code that determines who is logged in, and gets the relevant content specific to that user. Due to the sensitive nature of this code, it's kept on a server to keep the website secure and safe from attacks. You will also learn about databases. Databases allow information to be stored, retrieved, updated, and deleted. Understanding databases is essential to backend development. We will teach you about APIs. You'll learn how to create your own API so that your website can talk to your backend securely. And because there's no need to reinvent the wheel, our Full Stack development course will teach you to interact with and make use of third-party application programmer interfaces. API, CRUD, REST, JSON, HTTP -- you will also be learning a lot of acronyms.

Founded by a team of former Microsoft Engineers, the Covalence program provides a curriculum created by the industry's top developers. Our instructors are trained by the best and are dedicated to supporting the next generation of software engineers.

Our Full Stack Development Course is a 10-week in person full-time course. We want to give you the time to really dive into the course material and get your hands dirty. We also want you to be learning with peers rather than attempting to learn behind a computer at home. It can't be overstated how much you can benefit from being around other people day in and day out, all trying to accomplish the same goal.

We've carefully chosen our prework to give you a solid insight into the world of web development and best prepare you for our immersive Full Stack curriculum.

Front End Fundamentals

The Front End Course is a 1 week course that heavily focuses on HTML, CSS, and DOM manipulation using Javascript. You'll learn both the basics and how to utilize functional libraries like Bootstrap and JQuery for things like animations and responsive design to bridge the gap between developer and designer.

See What Former Students Have To Say About Covalence

Our students love us, just ask them!

I joined Covalence because I was ready to take the next step in advancing my career. So many valuable things happened during the 10 short weeks. I made several great friends, I was introduced to multiple resources for job placement after the program, and I learned more in those 10 weeks than I ever thought possible. My only regret is that I didn’t join sooner!

When I first decided to join Covalence, I knew that it would require serious commitment. You have to be willing to dedicate all of your time and then some. That being said, it was one of the most important decisions I’ve made. I took a major risk, quit my job, and dove head first into the program. Now a few short months later, I’m starting my career as a front-end developer. If you are looking to start a new career for yourself, or even just advance your current skills, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and start with Covalence.

Coming to Covalence was one of the best decisions I made in Birmingham. It taught me how to use technology to solve problems and allowed me to jumpstart my career in technology. The course was extremely useful in terms of learning a big picture view and then drilling down into specifics - the instructor being very strict with formatting and quality of code has been a great aid in my current job.
